What laboratory studies might a Veterinary Doctor require?
When we take our pets for a check-up, sometimes laboratory studies may be required to corroborate or rule out a diagnosis.

Complete blood count
(CBC)
This study helps us to count and analyze the different types of blood cells.
Coproparasitoscopic:
It’s the analysis of the feces of the patients, with the objective of determining the presence of parasites or intestinal bacteria, also the characteristics of these are evaluated, such as:
Shape and consistency.
Presence of blood.
Presence of mucus.
Color.
Smell.
Biochemistry profile
This test allows evaluating the functioning and structure of different organs through the measurement of different analytes found in the blood. In addition, it allows confirming or ruling out the different diagnoses, as well as evaluating the response to the implemented treatments.
Coproparasitoscopic:
For the detection of canine distemper (canine distemper), canine parvovirus, feline leukemia/AIDS, feline coronavirus, feline panleukopenia, among others.
Skin scrapes
It consists of obtaining a sample of skin cells from patients so that it can be analyzed and detect the presence of disease-causing microorganisms, such as mites, dermatophytes, bacteria, among others.
Cytologies:
It is the analysis of fluids and secretions of the body by studying the cells that make up a sample under a microscope, the presence of signs of inflammation, infection, bleeding or neoplasms can be detected.
Urinalysis (Urinalysis)
Microscopic analysis: The presence of cells and crystals of different chemical compositions that over time can cause different problems in the health of patients is analyzed.
